Way Wordy Wednesday With Raymond

Hello friends! Check me out, I'm smiling 'cause my Moms are home from NYC.

Guess what? Our friends the Kool Kitty Krew and the Four Crazy Cats both gave us this award yesterday. Thanks gang! Now we have to list seven facts about ourselves, so here goes:

1) Our blogging Mom was born in Gary, Indiana. She lived there until 1972 (when she was 13) and then her family moved to a town called Crown Point, Indiana. She has lived in California for 22 years. (she's super old!)

2) Our Non-blogging Mom is a native Californian. She grew up in Irvine, back when it was all orchards and ranches. The house she grew up in is gone now and there is a freeway built on top of it.

3) Our blogging Mom loves to play golf. Last year she won the Santa Cruz City Amateur Tournament.

4) Our Non-blogging Mom is a public health nurse and works for the County of Santa Cruz. She works for the Homeless Persons Health Project and she loves her work.

5) We live in a very small house. In fact, it's what they call a "manufactured" home. It's very comfortable and even has a fireplace that ALL of us love. It's just a few blocks from Monterey Bay.

6) When they were in New York last week, our blogging Mom went to the City Clerk of NY and got a copy of her Grandparents marriage license so she could find out the name of her Italian Great Grandparents. (she never met her Grandfather, so she didn't know anything about his family.) Her Great Grandfather was Aniello Festa & Her Great Grandmother was Filomena Branca. They immigrated to America in the late 1800's and lived in Brooklyn.

7) Our non-blogging Mom's Mom (our Non-blogging Grandma?) is 91 years old and we are trying to get her to come and live closer to us. We can always use another lap to nap in, right?

I think this award has been around for awhile, but I am going to pass it along to five other bloggers anyway.

Wordy Wednesday

Hi Cats! We had a nice surprise the other day. (we have actually had a few surprises lately, but that's for another blog post) Our friends the Four Crazy Cats gave us the Superior Scribbler Award! (here we are pictured below, looking for reporters and pawpawrazzi to come interview us!)

The Superior Scribbler Award was started by The Scholastic Scribe to celebrate their 200th post. To read more about the Superior Scribbler Award click HERE.

As with every award, there are some rules that need to be followed:
1-Each Superior Scribbler (SS) must pass the Award on to 5 deserving blogger friends.
2-Each SS must link the author and name of the blog from whom he/she received the award.
3-Each SS must display the award on his/her blog and link to the post which explains the award.
4-Each SS is asked to visit the post which explains the award and add his/her name to the Mr. Linky List.
5-Each SS must post these rules on his/her blog.

We are supposed to pass this award on to five more blogger friends. That's one of the five rules. (jeez!) We are going to wait and do that at a later date.

Honest Scrap

Hello everyone! Our new friends Katie and Glogirly gave us the Honest Scrap award earlier this week. When you get this award, you are supposed to list ten interesting (or mildly interesting) things about yourself. Are you ready? Here goes! (try to stay awake!) Our Mom is a bit obsessed about the weather and loves to take photos of weather events.
Our Mom's paternal Grandmother and Great Aunt were in Vaudeville. They were known as the Wilton Sisters. They were sometimes called the Hoosier Queens of Vaudeville. They played on the big time Keith Circuit. They played the Palace Theater in NYC and toured Europe. They also appeared in a Broadway play called "The Little Whopper".

Our Moms rescued this guy back in September. They named him "Orangey" (very original) They had him neutered (ouch) and wormed and treated for fleas. Luckily for us, he was adopted by a friend and now lives happily (and indoors) in San Jose, CA. He has a new name, it's Lewey.


Our Mom is very interested in genealogy and has traced her family tree on both sides. This is a photo of our Mom's Great Grandmother (in the middle), Grandmother (on the right) and Great Aunt.


Our Mom LOVES to play golf.
This past August she won the Santa Cruz City Amateur Tournament.

This is our REAL Mom, Nell. She was rescued by Pacific Siamese Rescue who discovered she was pregnant. She gave birth to us (and our brother Leo) when she was in foster care. Our Mom and Leo also live in California in forever homes! (and none of us are Siamese!)

We used to have an older brother and sister. Toot Suite and Alex. Toot lived to be 22 years old and Alex lived to be 23. My Mom adopted them when they were little kittens in Indiana. They moved to California with her in 1988. Alex went to the bridge in 2008, and Toot in 2006.

When Mom isn't golfing she likes to take photographs. Here on the Central Coast of California, we have our best sunsets in November.

So this time of year, Mom is usually taking photos of the sunset.

We live about 30 minutes away from the Monterey Bay Aquarium

and that is one of Moms favorite places to visit. She loves the jelly fish.

Although Mom's roots are in Indiana, she loves living here in Capitola and so do we!
