Mancat Monday

New Neko Fly!  Can you see I have my psycho cat eyes?

Thanks Mom!!!

Have a great Monday friends. Mancats (and beautiful girl cats) love new toys. (or old toys that Mom has hidden and decides to bring back out...)

Easy (and cold!) Sunday

Hello friends! Busby and I are having a nice, easy Sunday. I even found a great sunny spot on the bed.

Our Moms took a walk down to the beach and took this photo of the clouds over Monterey Bay. If you look REALLY close you can see the dusting of snow in the Santa Lucia mountains south of our house.

Even though we have been having record cold temperatures, there was a Magnolia tree starting to bloom on their walk home. Spring is just around the corner!

Have a great Sunday friends! xo, Raymond

Photo Hunt: Mostly Black

Hello friends, happy weekend! Today's Photo Hunt theme is "Mostly Black".  I am a mostly black cat, except for that small collection of white hairs on my neck.

I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

Frootbat Friday

Behold the mighty frootbat! Looking up at Mom and hoping that she can manage to open the treat jar with her stupid  broken elbow.

Yep, Mom got her MRI results. The top of her radius bone is fractured. There's a bone fragment in her elbow and this is the cause of her general crankiness! She will see the orthopedist on Monday and hopefully he will have a plan for healing Mom's arm.

Blah blah blah, we're sick of talking about it! Can I have some treats NOW please?! PS-it might snow here this weekend. A very rare occurrence here at sea level. We will keep you posted.

Have a great weekend friends! xoxo, Raymond

Thankful Thursday

Hi friends! We're thankful today that we had just enough sun to nap in together. It's supposed to SNOW here (we live at sea level) for the first time in 30 years this coming Friday and Saturday!

We're thankful that we live near the beautiful Monterey Bay.

We're thankful that our blog Mom's MRI and fluoroscopy went well yesterday and she is hopefully going to be back to her goofy self soon! (um, Mom, that's my tail-NOT a toy!)

We're thankful for all of our friends and for your purrs and good wishes yesterday. Thank you from all of us here in the little house by the sea.

xoxo, Raymond, Busby and our two Moms

Word-ish Wednesday

Vulture cat wants food

Hi friends, our blog mom is having an MRI on her elbow today. The Orthopedist needs to get a good picture of what is going on with Mom's elbow so he can hopefully come up with a plan to fix it. Mom is a bit apprehensive, since they are going to shoot some kind of stuff into her elbow before the MRI in order to show contrast. She's not a fan of needles (who is?) and especially not needles that are stuck into an elbow that is all ready poorly. (as Milo and Alfie would say.) The good news is, Mom is taking the whole day off work. Please send warm fuzzy purrs our way. Mom has been in a lot of pain and as a result she is sort of cranky. (seriously! chill out Mom!) We need that elbow fixed.

Mancat(s) Monday

It's good to have a friend you can lean on.

Happy Mancat Monday friends! We hope some of your humans have today off. Our blog Mom has to work, but our non-blog Mom doesn't, so we are looking forward to some lap time today.

Easy Sunday

ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........

Hope you are having an easy Sunday too. It has been pouring rain here since last Monday. We have nearly four inches of rain in the gauge that is out in our garden.  Great napping weather.

Photo Hunt? Not.

Well, Mom helped us do a really nice Photo Hunt post for today. However, the unfortunate part is that Mom got the dates mixed up and did a Photo Hunt post for NEXT Saturday's theme instead of today's theme.

So, here I am, on top the fridge, giving Mom the hairy eyeball.  Seriously Mom, take a look at the calendar once in awhile.

Have a good Saturday friends. xoxo, Raymond

2010 Purrformance Review

Hi friends! Happy Friday! It's time for the Annual PurrFurMance Review. A big thanks to the girls at Zoolatry for facilitating this annual blogosphere event. Now, let's get down to business, shall we?

1) Quantity of Output: We gave Mom a low rating. She and our non-blog Mom took off for a week last August to go to New York City  and closed our blog down that whole week. There was also a "break" around Christmas time this past year. Come on Mom! Cat blogs shouldn't take breaks! We don't care that you got a new job and are out of the house most of the day. No more breaks!

2) Quality of Output: Hmmm, another low rating. Some of the photos Mom used last year were taken with her CELL PHONE! There were also numerous photos of us sticking out our tongues or in other unflattering poses. Plus we happen to KNOW Mom looks forward to "Wordless Wednesday" so that she doesn't have to type any words. Duhr. She really needs improvement in this area.

3) Client Participation: Mom gets two paws up here. Our email address is posted on our blog, plus she simplified our comments so that they don't require the dreaded "word verification" anymore. We withheld the highest grade here because "our" email address doesn't use OUR names.

4) Participation: Two paws up here. Mom is pretty good about entering us in contests, and letting us play with other members of the blogosphere. However, when WE do a CSN gift code giveaway on OUR blog, she never let's us enter our own contest. What's that about? We have noticed that since Mom started working, we are getting less time to visit other blogs. We're pressuring her to improve in that area!

5) Client Satisfaction: We left this one marked as "incomplete" because we think that our readers should be the judges of whether or not they are contented with what they see and read on our bloggie. So let us know, friends!

Overall: There are OBVIOUS areas where Mom needs improvement. Perhaps she should start by using the camera more and the iPhone camera less? More flattering photos of us would be nice, fewer of those shots of us asleep. We think she should take less "breaks" from blogging too. We should be blogging every single day, maybe even TWICE a day! All in all, we give Mom a Two Paws Minus grade, and hope she does better this year!

Have a good Friday friends. We are eager to read your reviews too!

Thursday Stroll in Capitola, CA

Hi friends! We're going strolling today. Not in our garden, which is still pretty much in Winter-mode, but in our little town of Capitola, CA.

Mom! No kisses now, we are trying to stroll here!

We had about two weeks of very warm weather, and as a result, the plum trees are starting to bloom!

These old fashioned roses are blooming just down the street from our house.

We have no idea what this is, it looks like some kind of hyacinth. Very pretty! (Do you know what this plant is?)

Here's our beautiful state flower, the California Poppy. We love these. They are everywhere here, they grow like weeds.

This is the Capitola Wharf, a few blocks from our house. You can see the high clouds starting to form. Rain came in this week and we had an inch of rain in our gauge this morning. We need it!

We hope you enjoyed today's stroll. Don't forget to drop by Jonesie's blog to see what the other Feline Gardeners are up to today.

Have a furtastic Thursday. Mom, you can start smooching on me now!   xoxo, Busby

Wordy Wednesday with Special Guest!

We have a special guest today! Do you remember Pluma? Pluma lives with our friend Teri. Our Mom was doing some work for Teri before she got her new job. When Mom would go over to Pluma's house, Pluma would bring our Mom all her toys so that our Mom would play with her.

Mom misses you Pluma! She hopes to come visit you (and your sister Speck) soon.

Happy Wednesday everyone! xoxo, Raymond and Busby

Toes on Tuesday

Hello friends! Just a discreet little shot of my coffee bean-like toes.

Hope you are having a good Tuesday. We are having cold, rain and gloom here in Capitola. Just to remind us that it is STILL Winter even though we just had two weeks of very warm and sunny weather.

Happy Toesday! xoxo, Raymond

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hello dear friends! We want to wish you all a very happy Valentine's day! We hope your hearts are full of love and laughter, not just today, but everyday! xoxo, Raymond and Busby and our Moms

Easy Sunday

Hullo friends! We're having a pretty easy Sunday. The only exception is that our Moms went out and purchased a new vacuum cleaner that sounds like a jet aircraft. That made Ray a bit nervous.

Otherwise, it's been pretty mellow here.
We hope you are all having a stellar weekend.

Caturday

This is what we plan to do all weekend long!

Remember when we mentioned that our Mom fell and hurt her elbow back at the end of December? The elbow still doesn't work right and there is still pain so she went to see an Orthopedist this week and he took more x-rays. It looks like Mom's left elbow is fractured. She will have an MRI in about a week or so and then who knows. Maybe some arthroscopic surgery. We'll keep you all posted, but in the mean time can you send just a few of your spare purrs this direction?

Thanks friends and have a great weekend!

Vote today for Reader's Choice Kitteh in the Mango Minster 2011!!!

Hi friends! You may recall that back in January we received a call from our friend Mango the Mastiff. He asked if we would serve as judges for the Kitteh Category of this years Mango Minster. Of course we said YES! What an honor!

We took our judgeship VERY seriously! We read all of the entries, made copious notes and then read them again several times. It was difficult, because ALL of the entries were wonderful.

The awards in the Kitteh category are being announced today! Plus the Reader's Choice voting for the Kitteh category is happening today until Noon! So go to The Official Mango Minster blog and vote!

Happy Friday! xoxo, Raymond and Busby

Thursday Garden Stroll

NEWS FLASH! The Kitteh portion of the Mango Minster contest is TODAY! Go over to THE MANGO MINSTER BLOG to see all the contestants and to vote for reader's choice!!

Hi friends! Welcome to the Thursday garden stroll! We have had unseasonably warm weather here on the coast of California for about two weeks. It has made for an interesting week in our Winter garden. (and it has made us a couple of sun-lounging fellows!) Let's go see what is in the garden this week!

So the Pansies have started blooming. Mom planted these to have a bit of Winter color. They weren't doing much until this recent hot spell. It's been so dry, Mom actually had to water the garden this week.

Our English Bells (Hullo Milo and Alfie!) are doing well too. Whatever was eating them has moved on to someone else's garden!

Here is the big surprise of the week! Not only did our Zinnia's NOT die over the Winter like they usually do, but they actually BLOOMED this week. Very unusual. We think it might be because they face the south and are right next to the street so they get a lot of radiant heat.

Thanks for joining us on this week's garden stroll. Don't forget to visit our friend Jonesie to see what the other Feline Gardeners are up too.

Happy Thursday! xoxo, Raymond and Busby

Your Tuesday Tonkinese

Hi friends! Mom just took this photo of me. Where are my legs?! I like to refer to this as my "rubber duckie" pose. Don't I look like one of those rubber duckies that you play in the bathtub with?

NO, not the Devil Duck Mom!

Mom thinks she's hilarious sometimes...sheesh!

Have a good Tuesday friends! xoxo, Busby

Mancat(s) Monday

Hi friends! We are having real MANCAT weather in Capitola. The temperatures have been unseasonably warm. We have been sunning our furs all day!

Um, Busby, please get your paw off my bottom!

Sunshine on my whiskers makes me happy! (Everybody sing!)

This is the life!

We know many of you are still stuck in the deep freeze. Heck, our Grandmama in Indiana is still pretty much SNOWED in! We hope you get a bit of a warm feeling from our sunny post today.

Don't forget friends, the Mango Minster 2011 Dog and Cat show starts today! Make sure you follow all the action on the OFFICIAL BLOG or you can click on the Mango Minster logo on the upper right side of our blog to go to there.  Keep in mind that there is a "Reader's Choice" competition for each category, so go and vote for your favorites! So exciting!!

Have a terrific Monday, xoxo, Raymond and Busby

Easy Sunday

Hello friends! Rumor has it that there is a big, perhaps even super football game today. However, since neither of our teams are playing (Chicago Bears and San Francisco Forty Niners) we are watching the game with limited interest.

VERY limited interest!
We do intend to open our eyes to watch the commercials. Those are usually the best part of the Super Bowl.

Have a SUPER Sunday friends! xoxo, Busby

Photo Hunt: Fashion

Hi friends! Today's Photo Hunt theme is Fashion. I'm no Daisy the Curly Cat or Skeezix the Cat, but I can be fashionable when I am in the mood. (which is RARELY!) My non-blog Mom made this hat, it's got a really cool skull on it! Very MANcatly!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! xoxo, Raymond

Frootbat Friday

I'm Count Frootbatula. I sleep during the day, and at night I zoom around the house and knock things over. Like the lamp. (oops!) It looks like I lost an ear last night, but I didn't. It's folded over. I wanted to see what it was like to be a Scottish Fold cat

Happy Friday friends! xoxo, Count Frootbatula

Toys on Thursday

Neko fly: Before...

Neko fly: After.

Do you think we were too rough with our Neko fly?

Hey Mom! We need a new Neko fly please!

Have a good Thursday friends. We didn't make it into the garden this week, but we hope to next week. xoxo, Raymond and Busby

We've Got a Winner Wednesday!

Hi friends! Since today is Groundhog Day we thought we would recycle this old photo of Raymond popping his head out of this box like a Groundhog! (or are we getting groundhogs confused with gophers?)

We had a LOT of interest in our $75 CSN gift code giveaway. Thank you to everyone who entered!

We used Random.org to choose the recipient of the CSN gift code and that winner is....

KAT'S KATS!!!!

We have never met Kat's Kats before, so we are excited to start visiting their blog. We think all of you should go and visit them too! There are five cats in their family and one of them looks sort of like Busby and the other looks sort of like me! It freaked us out!

Kat, we noticed your contact info is in your profile on Blogger, so we will email you the gift code and instructions on how to use it. Concatulations!

And again, thank you everyone who participated in our giveaway.

Happy Groundhog day! xoxo, Raymond

Your Tuesday Tonkinese

Hi friends! See the expression on my face?

Excuse me...

We are starting to refer to this as my "Neko Fly face".

Have you seen the Neko fly toy? I thought I just saw it. I am very excited!

Have a good Tuesday friends! And don't forget to keep reading the Mango Minster blog  now that the show has begun! Even though the official contest has closed for entries, there are still some officially sanctioned side contests going on that you can enter. Plus there will be a "reader's choice" poll.  Fun!

xoxo, Busby
