Your Tuesday Tonkinese

Hello friends! Welcome to your Tuesday Tonkinese. I thought I would share my perfect Tuesday with you. First breakfast, and then some napping on Mom's lap. Mmmmm. Relaxing.

Next, some gazing out the window (while still on Mom's lap). Some deep thinking too, mostly pondering what time I will be eating dinner.

After the gazing and pondering , MORE napping on Mom's lap. (what can I say? Gazing and pondering is tiring.)

Now THAT'S a perfect day! I hope you have a perfect Tuesday too! xoxo, Busby

Mancat(s) Monday

Hello friends! Raymond and I had a nice conversation over the weekend and we've decided to SHARE the blog more equally. You know, instead of Raymond MONOPOLIZING the whole thing everyday.

Sharing is very MANCATLY, don't you think?

Hope you are all having a good Monday! xoxo, Busby (and Raymond!)

Photo Hunt: Purple

Yay! We're playing today! Today's theme is PURPLE. This is me with our purple bed. Purple bed and I have a love/hate relationship!
See what I mean? What can I say, I was just one year old when these photos were taken, they're from 2005. I still look the same, don't I?

Happy weekend everyone! Busby is starting to whine, I will probably relinquish control of the blog to him tomorrow. xoxo, Raymond

Thursday Garden Report with Raymond

Hello friends! There were some eye opening developments in the garden this week! Things actually GREW even though our MOMS were out of town all week. (go figure!) A special shout out to our friend Lorraine who came over and tended the garden while our Moms were off having fun. Today we are starting the garden report with some of the container plants on our front porch. Mom loves Salvias, and they do very well in our climate. Here's one whose name Mom cannot remember. (duhr.)

Here's another Saliva. This one is called "Hot Lips". The flowers start out white and then part of them turn red. Hence the name!

Meanwhile, on the East side of the house, the pretend Quail are being overrun by flowers!

Here's a photo of one of the many volunteer sunflowers (thanks to the bird feeder and the sloppy birds). This photo is from June 10th and...

...Here is the SAME sunflower today! It GREW like CRAZY!

We have a few hanging planters. This one has purple Verbena and some lovely Alyssum in it.

Here's yet another Saliva. It sprang up out of no where and has established itself next to our driveway.

We leave you this week with a look at our tomatoes. We grow them in a raised bed on the Southwest side of the house. They seem to like it there. We have three heirloom varieties. A friend of ours gives us seedlings, we never know what to expect!

All three of our tomatoes are starting to get fruit on them! This tomato is called Stupice. What will the fruit look like? No idea!

Hope you enjoyed this week's garden report. Make sure to visit the many other gardening cats who are blogging about their gardens today!

xoxoxo, Raymond

Your TOESday Tonkinese

Hello friends! We're VERY happy to be back to blogging now that our Moms are home from visiting Indiana. It was nice to have so many of our blogosphere friends visiting us yesterday on our first day back. It was funny, because a comment that Mickey, Georgia and Tillie left us was SO right on. They said: "We bet you two are SO happy now that your Moms are back!!! Now you can have a real snooze, knowing all is right with your world!! " How did they know?!

SO true, friends, so true! We hope you are all enjoying this first FULL day of Summer! (oh, and enjoying my toesies too!) xoxo, Busby

Summer Vacation

Hey friends! Here we are waiting patiently for our Moms to return home. While they are at our human Grandmother's house in Indiana, they don't have access to the interwebs.

We're on hiatus until June 21st (or maybe the 22nd. We look forward to seeing you when our Moms get back home.

Here is the Haiku that Abby and her family submitted:
We are the five cats
Who need a new blue cat tree
To play and roll on
Well now you can get that blue cat tree Abby! Please send us your email address so that the folks at CSN stores can send you the gift code!

In other news, today is our MOM's birthday! Yes, our Mom is well on her way to getting a senior discount at the golf course! Happy birthday Mom!

Thursday Garden Report with Raymond

Hello friends! If it's THURSDAY then it must be time for the garden report with me, RAYMOND! It's all ready June and the garden is starting to really come alive, even though we had a late start with it this year. Here are some pretty petunias that we have growing next to our driveway. Mom plants them in the same spot every year and they seem to really like it there.

We have a bird feeder and it has surprised us with a few sunflowers that are popping up all over the garden. There are three or four of them that have suddenly appeared! It's kind of exciting because we don't know what they will look like.
Here's non-blogging Mom's pride and joy, her rhubarb! She started it from tiny shoots and now t is growing bigger each day. Soon she will transplant it into the ground. It takes two years before you can actually eat it. Mom LOVES to eat rhubarb and makes delicious pies and jams with it.

We have a garden pig, a garden frog and some garden quail and here is our garden CAT. As you can see, she is a CALICO girl. (We love Calicos!)

We'll end today's tour with a shot of our marigolds. Not only are they pretty, but they discourage certain garden pests. We never use pesticides in our garden.

Please remember to visit the other Feline Gardeners today! Have a purrific Thursday!

OH! And don't forget that today is the last day to enter our Haiku Contest! The cut off for entries is 8pm Pacific time tonight! xoxo, Raymond

Wordy Wednesday & Meezer Colors Day

Hello friends! We're still pretty new on the blogosphere so we had never heard of Meezer Colors Day before today! Since I look like a Meezer but I am NOT a Meezer, I thought I would STAR in today's post.
Yes, even YOU may have thought I was a MEEZER, but I am what they call a TONKINESE cat. A TONK is a mix between a Burmese cat and a Siamese cat. My coat color is what they (the fancy breeder type people) call "Natural Mink". Pretty snazzy, huh? RAYMOND is your basic domestic short hair. Although he likes to pretend that he's a Havana Brown. Yeah, good luck with that Ray.
Meanwhile, our Haiku Contest is still going on! We have quite a few wonderful entries. The prize is a gift code worth $40 at any of the over two hundred CSN web stores. If your family hasn't entered yet, get on it! The contest ends tomorrow (Thursday June 10th) evening. Winner will be announced on Friday June 11th.

Your Tuesday Tonkinese

Hello friends! Busby here! (aka your Tuesday Tonkinese) Raymond and I just found out that our Moms are going out of town next week. They are going to Indiana to visit family and friends. Um, Mom? Please don't go anywhere until you loosen all the lids on the Grandma Lucy Freeze-dried treats for us, okay? Oh? We're going to have a cat-sitter? Well just make sure she is aware that we LIKE LOTS of treats, okay? And belly rubs too.

Hey friends, don't forget to enter our Haiku Contest! We will be accepting entries until Thursday evening, June 10th. Winner will be announced on June 11th.

Have a fantastic Tuesday! xo, Busby

Cat Tree Review and Haiku Contest!

Our cat tree from CSN arrived on Friday! They sent us a $40 gift code and so we chose the cat tree. It cost 39.95 with free shipping.

The cat tree piqued our curiosity as soon as it came out of the box! We snoopervised as our Moms put it together. We couldn't even WAIT until it was built to start playing with it!

Our Moms said it was easy to put together. It seems sturdy. They say that the fleece is a bit messy when we claw at it. There are some blue fuzzy things on our carpet. (Get over it Mom!) They may end up putting sisal on the other two legs on the cat tree. (one leg all ready has sisal on it.)

We really like the little hanging ball that comes with the cat tree, they actually include a SECOND ball in case the first gets completely chewed up. The top part of the tree has a little tunnel, which is sort of a tight fit for Busby, but he likes to lay inside of it anyway. The cat tree we picked is 30" tall. Just the right height to sit on and gaze out the window.

We give the Armakat 30" Faux Fleece Cat Tree two (four?) paws up. Thank you to the folks at CSN stores for giving us the $40 gift code in exchange for our review.

Now about our CONTEST! It's a HAIKU CONTEST!

Our contest is simple and fun! Leave us a Haiku as a comment! A Haiku is a very short poem that is only three sentences long.

The first sentence must have five (5) syllables. The second sentence must have seven (7) syllables, and the third sentence must have five (5) syllables. You can write it about any subject you want. To be eligible for the prize drawing, your haiku must follow traditional haiku format, and it must be original. Raymond wrote a haiku for Frootbat Friday on June 4th, if you need an example of a haiku.

The winner will be selected by a random drawing. The prize is a $40 gift code courtesy of CSN Stores. You can get yourself the same cat tree we reviewed, or use your code at any of the other 200-plus CSN stores.

Unfortunately, the prize is only valid in the U.S. or Canada. Only one entry per family please. Contest ends 06/10/10 at 8pm Pacific Time. The winner will be announced on Friday June 11th and must respond with a current email address within 48 hours to claim the prize. (We'll also need your human's name) Otherwise, another eligible entry will be chosen. Please make sure that you leave a way for us to contact you in case you win. Good Luck friends!

Details about the gift certificate (promo code): This will be emailed to you directly from CSN. They will not share your email address with any other companies. Gift Certificate “Code” will be used during the last step of checkout on their web site under “Promotional Codes.” Code expires after first use. Entire promotional amount must be used on first purchase. If the total cost of basket exceeds the amount of money from the promotional code, you are responsible for the difference. Promotional code will be applied to all items in your basket.

Hope you are all having a nice mellow Sunday. xoxo, Busby

Caturday

Hello friends! Look what arrived yesterday! It's our Faux Fleece Cat Tree from CSN. As you can see, I am doing some product testing today and my brother Busby and I will post our review on Monday. Also on Monday, we will start the contest for the $40 CSN gift certificate! The lucky winner can get this cat tree or pick out anything they want from CSN's many web stores.

The contest will run until June 10th, with the winner announced on June 11th. We're excited!

CSN does not ship to anywhere except the US and Canada. Sorry to all of our friends who live in other beautiful parts of the world.

Have a great weekend friends! xoxo, Raymond (hard at work testing this cat tree!)

Frootbat Friday - the Haiku Edition

Behold the MIGHTY FROOTBAT!
Looking, shall I say, rather suave.
Frootbat ears fully unfurled.

I even wrote a HAIKU about frootbat Friday:

Mighty frootbat Ray
Reclines in golden sunlight
Fridays make us smile.

We hope Friday makes you smile too! xoxo, Raymond

Thursday Garden Report with Busby

Hello friends! Another busy week in the garden! Here are the highlights:

We got another tree! This is a miniature fig tree, it's called a Black Jack fig. It doesn't get very big and is supposed to have delicious and abundant fruit. We are VERY excited about it. (plus it was on sale for 20% off!) Our neighbor's bike is in the background. We told you our garden space is small.

Our radish seeds are sprouting! We have had the coldest April and May on record in Santa Cruz county. It has also been very wet. We got these in the ground finally and we're happy they are sprouting. Next we will need to thin them out a bit.

See our garden pig? His name is Porcini. He watches over everything. Those petunias are called Aladdin Arabian Nights. We like the colors.

Last but not least, our catnip plant! Mom put it in a hanging basket because there are roaming cats in our neighborhood. This photo isn't very good, we'll try to get a better shot of our nip next week.

Don't forget to visit the other gardening cats today, including the Queen of the Feline Gardeners Jonesie! XOXO, Busby
