Dia De Los Muertos Gatos

Hello! Busby here. Today is Dia De Los Muertos. In English, that means the Day of the Dead. Today we honor and celebrate loved ones who have gone before. For Raymond and I, that means our older sister Toot Suite and our brother Alex. Our Mom bought this tile for them.

We have a Dia De Los Muertos alter that we maintain in our house year round.

It has mementos and photos of our loved ones who have gone before, plus other people who were important to us. (like Elvis, Keith Haring, Walter Peyton and John Lennon!)

We also got this cool quilt square of Our Lady of Guadalupe that hangs over our alter.

For Dia De Los Muertos, it's traditional to decorate your alter with candy skulls and marigolds.

We also leave a little catnip on the alter for Toot and Alex!

Happy Dia De Los Muertos everyone!

  1. Thanks for showing us your alter. It's good to remember those that came before today...and everyday.

(we like that you leave a little catnip out for Toot and Alex...we bet they like that too!)

  2. Please leave a little extra 'nip for Randy, who just crossed the bridge yesterday while his daddy was in Georgia. Rest well, kitty - your brother Tyler, Daddy, and I will surely miss you! Kisses to Pusscini too!

  5. Oh, your altar is glorious! And I would love to take a lick of that sugar skull! We don't have those but I made my mom look up recipes last night, so maybe next year we'll have some molds and the secret ingredient, too. (Or maybe even she can find some already made later today if she looks hard enough!)

  7. You have beautiful Dia de los Muertos altars and art work. We especially like the skull. Tonight in San Francisco, all kinds of skeletons and people carrying candles and marigolds walk through the Mission District in honor of those who have left us.

We remember Toot and Alex for you, and those we have lost as well.

    Halloween
