Your Tuesday Tonkinese

Hello friends! Mom is getting a box together to send to Hollie (who used to be Rollie). You know, I could use a little vacation. I was thinking a trip to visit the Fraidy-Cats would be pretty nice.

What's that Mom? This box isn't big enough?

Well, I suppose Raymond would miss me if I left.  Hmmm, maybe I should send Raymond to visit the Fraidy-Cats and then I could have a staycation? (MOL!)

Have a good Tuesday friends! xoxo, Busby

Merging Mancat Monday

Hi friends! Yes, we are nose to nose here today. It's COLD! It has been in the 30's here at night and only in the 50's during the day. Most of you may think that sounds pretty warm for this time of year but it's COLD to us coastal California cats.

Hope you are finding ways to keep warm where you are too.
Have a Mancatly Monday!

Easy Sunday

Hello friends! Our human cousin Jenni came to visit this weekend. (Mom's Niece) Even though Jenni brought her laptop, Blackberry and Nintendo Wii, I planted myself firmly on what little lap she had left. Fancy electronics are NO match for a heat-seeking Mancat.

I hope your quest for a warm lap is equally successful today!

Caturday

Hi friends! I am not in the mood to have my photo taken today. Can you tell?

I hope you are all having a good Caturday. Our human cousin (Mom's Niece) Jenni is visiting this weekend. She's fun!

Enjoy your day, xoxo, Busby

Frootbat Friday Garden Stroll

Hello friends! The mighty frootbat here! Since we took yesterday off I thought I would take you out into our garden today. We've made a lot of changes to our garden, come take a look.

This is the only plant left from our Summer garden. Everything else went to seed and Mom took it out. We are letting this orange flower (we have no idea what it is) go to seed now.
Mom added some stepping stones to the garden. She didn't have good access to all of her flowers this past Summer and she wanted to remedy that. See our little lemon tree in the top left? We have had frost here the past three nights, so Mom has been covering it with a sheet at night.

We put in some Pansies. These do well here in the Winter time and add some much needed color to the garden.
These are called English Bells. They were so pretty at the garden store Mom couldn't resist.

Our garden quail seems to like them too.
We hope he doesn't eat them!

Thanks for strolling in our garden today friends! We hope you have a terrific Friday. xoxo, Raymond

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving friends! We have so much to be thankful for. Today in particular we are thankful for the two angel cats who watch over us.

Alex was our role model. 1985-2008

We are thankful for our two Moms who adopted us from Pacific Siamese Rescue and gave us a wonderful forever home.

Non-blog Mom on the left, Blog Mom on the right. In San Francisco 2009.

We really DO love each other!

We are also thankful for all of our friends here on the blogosphere. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving friends. We have turned off the comments today, please enjoy time with your family and friends.

Your Tuesday Tonkinese

Oh hai friends! You caught me doing a little man-scaping. Hey you know, a mancat has to keep himself looking good from every angle!

Friends, please take some time out from your own man-scaping today to purr for our good friend Mango. He has had two seizures in the past 24 hours. For those of you who may not know, Mango is a relentlessly huge mastiff doggie, so you can imagine how horrible these seizures are for Mango and his family. If you have any experience with pet seizures, his Mom would sure appreciate your insight.

Don't forget there is still time to enter our giveaway. Just leave us a comment on yesterday's post and tell us something you are thankful for. The lucky winner from our American or Canadian visitors could win a $75 gift code from CSN online stores. The winner from all other countries will win a special gift selected by Raymond and I. We will draw the winning names tonight (Tuesday, November 23rd) so you have until 7pm Pacific time to enter. We will announce the winners tomorrow.

Have a lovely Tuesday, and don't let your manscape get out of hand! xo, Busby

Mancat Monday-Giveaway x 2

Hello friends! Sometimes a manly mancat like me enjoys a nice cigar. I really think Mom needs to mancat this place up a bit. You know, maybe a pool table and a bar and some bar stools ? I need a mancat cave!

We're hosting a giveaway today! Our friends at the CSN online stores are offering us the chance to give away a $75 gift code. All you have to do is leave us a comment and tell us what you are thankful for this Thanksgiving week. We will choose a winner at random and announce the winner on Wednesday. You can buy your human something nice for the holidays!

CSN only ships to the US and Canada, sorry about that all our overseas friends. However, we LOVE our international pals. We will also draw the name of one of our overseas pals and that friend will get a little something special from us!

One entry per family please. Submit your comments anytime between now and Tuesday November 23rd at 7pm Pacific time.

Have a terrific Monday! xoxo, Busby

Photo Hunt: Juicy

Hello friends! Today's  theme is JUICY. Busby has a VERY juicy tongue. He helps me keep my furs shiny by giving me a bath with his giant anteater tongue.

Of course this usually leads to a head-lock, neck biting and full on wrestling! We can't help it, we're typical Mancats!

Are you playing this juicy photo hunt today? Leave us a thumbnail below so we can come visit you. Have a most excellent Saturday!

Inigo Flufflebum

Hi friends. We are very sad because we just read that everyone's friend Inigo Flufflebum will be helped to the bridge Saturday at 4pm. As you read this, it is all ready Saturday morning in Australia.

We join the entire blogosphere in purring for Inigo and his family. We feel like we are losing a brother. Thank you so much to the Rumblemum and the Rumbledad for sharing your Inigo with us. What a wonderful four years you all had together.

Sad purrs, Raymond and Busby

Thursday at the Farmers Market

Hello friends! We wanted to stroll in our garden today, but it got too dark outside too early for us to get good photos. So instead we have photos from this week's Farmers Market! So lay back and relax and enjoy this Market stroll.

I am nice and relaxed! Let's stroll!

Not to brag too much, but we still have sweet corn at our market
and it's NOVEMBER! (it's not as tender as in July, but still!)

This is our favorite thing, CAT GRASS! We get a fresh pot each week. We wait for our Moms to come home with it on Saturday mornings. We nom it all up and they take the little plastic pot back to the farmer and get a fresh one. YUM!

Did you know we live in apple country? Yep, this part of California has a LOT of apple orchards. In fact, the famous Martinelli's company, who are well known for their champagne-like apple juice is only 15 miles from our house in Watsonville, CA. They have been there since 1868!

Autumn is also Persimmon season. These are Hachiya persimmons. They are the kind that you let get really really soft before you eat them. (the other kind is called Fuyu and you eat them like an apple.)

There are beautiful Mums at the market this time of year too. We feel so fortunate to have a year-round organic farmers market so close to our house!
Thanks for strolling the farmers market with us today! Don't forget to visit the other members of the Society of Feline Gardeners!

xoxo, Raymond

One Word Wednesday

Adopted!

Okay okay, we can't help but make this a MORE than one word post! Rollie has found a new home with Pip, Smidgen, Minnie, Wriggley (the dog) and Mom Cara of the Fraidy-Cats blog! Cara emailed our Mom and after a few phone calls and texts all arrangements have been made. Our human Niece is going to meet Cara halfway between her home and Rollie's home in Pleasanton, CA THIS WEEKEND! We are so happy for Rollie and for Cara and her family! A BIG thank you to the Blogosphere for helping us spread the word about Rollie.

Don't forget, there are plenty of cats (and dogs) who need a forever home. Adoption is the best option!

xoxo, Raymond and Busby

Your Tuesday Tonkinese

Hello friends! Sometimes you just have to let your belly furs AIR OUT a little bit. Even if your Mom moans and says 15 lbs of sleeping cat weight hurts her middle-aged knees.

Hey Mom, maybe you should get some exercise so your knees would be less creaky.  Just a suggestion.

I hope you are all enjoying a beautiful Autumn (or Spring-depending on your hemisphere) day! Let your belly furs breathe!

Girlcat Monday

Hello friends! This pretty girl cat is Rollie. She is a four-year old girl who is looking for a new forever home. Rollie's human baby sister has developed an allergy to cats.

Rollie is a spayed indoor cat and is current on all her shots. She lives in Pleasanton, CA which is in the San Francisco Bay area. She has lived with other cats, so she does not need to be an only cat.

If you are interested in adopting Rollie, please contact us! Our email address is on the upper right hand side of our blog.

Thanks friends! xoxo, Raymond and Busby

Flashback Frootbat Friday

Hello friends! Here's one from the archives, taken in January 2005. I was just a three-month old kitten boy. My frootbats were pretty impressive for my age, don't you think?

I'm practicing my cutie-pie look.

We hope you are having a wonderful Friday!

Thursday Garden Visit-Veteran's Day

Hello friends! Today we celebrate Veteran's Day in the US. In our family, however, we think of November 11th as Armistice Day. On the 11th hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month in 1918 an armistice was signed that ended World War I.

We are facing East and staying quiet for two minutes in honor of Armistice Day.

Our Mom's Grandfather fought with the US Army in France during WWI. That is where he met his future wife
 (Mom's Grandmother) Emelda Niquet.
When the war ended, Grandmother traveled by troop ship to the United States to start a new life. She left Paris, France for Terre Haute, Indiana. We have always thought that must have been quite a culture shock for her! It was our French Grandmother who taught our Mom that on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we face the East and observe two minutes of silence to honor those killed in the Great War.

Our French Grandmother. She was fluent in five languages!

We know our friends in the UK call this day Remembrance Day. Red Poppies are worn as a symbol of remembrance of the soldiers who died in battle. This came about after a poem was written by a Canadian doctor in 1915, who was so deeply affected by the death and destruction he witnessed in Flanders, Belgium.

We have a photo of the last poppy from our garden this year. We post this in remembrance of all of the brave men and women who have been lost in wars throughout this world.

Have a peaceful day friends, and be grateful for the people who have fought to defend our freedom.

xoxo, Raymond and Busby

Your Wednesday Silent Movie

Hello friends! We have a VERY (as in, 47 seconds) short film for you today.
Get yourself some popcorn and make sure your computer speakers are turned on.

We hope you enjoyed our movie! We want to assure you that no feather toys were harmed in the production of this film.
A tip of the director's cap to Mango's Momma for turning us on to the wonderful royalty-free music of Kevin MacLeod.

Have a great Wednesday friends!
