Easy Sunday

Nurse Busby here, repurrting directly from our blog-Mom's lap. The surgery went well. It lasted 45 minutes longer than the surgeon had anticipated because when he went into Mom's elbow with his teeny tiny arthroscopic camera he found a lot of scar tissue. He cut out all the scar tissue and removed the bone fragment. Mom got home much later than she was supposed to. It was around 3pm. (surgery started at 10:45am) Needless to say, Raymond and I were glad to see her and our non-blog-Mom because we were concerned about getting our dinner on time!

They gave Mom general anesthesia which made her pretty loopy and gave her an upset stomach. She finally started to feel better late last night and today is mostly her OLD self, except for an achy elbow. Raymond and I are taking turns sitting on her lap. If we angle ourselves just right we can both sit on her lap at once. Cozy for us, maybe not so cozy for Mom.

We'll have a lazy Sunday taking care of our Mom. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and healing light and purrs. Post-op doctor's appointment is on April 5th, so we will know more then. Doctor thinks Mom should be able to regain full range of motion. YAY!

For those of you who follow the weather, we have now had 21 days of rain here. We had over 6" of rain in the past 72 hours. Our town has been evacuated twice (Thursday and yesterday) due to flooding. Luckily we live in the "Upper Village" and are three blocks up hill from the flood plain. It's supposed to FINALLY be sunny on Monday. We sure hope so!

  2. Nurse Busby, I am glad to see you are taking such fine care of your mom (though also glad to see you have your priorities straight: the kitties' food is ALWAYS #1 on the list!)

Although my Human is happy happy happy for all the rain, I myself and wishing for some sun puddles! And today, about a mile from here (12th & Quintara), some BOULDERS fell down from a hill and smashed a couple of cars!!! Even my Human thinks that maybe the rain is starting to be just an EENSY bit excessive.

  4. Best of healing purrs for your Mom. My Dad had a less intensive surgery on Friday too, for his wrist (carpal tunnel release), so he has a big bandage on, which makes him look very funny.

Wow, that srsly is too much rain! Here's to sunny days for you there.

  5. We're so glad for an update on your blogging mom! Continued purrs and universal Light, that she heals quickly. It's great news that she's expected to regain full range of motion!

Stay dry, guys! You could have some of our sunshine, but you probably wouldn't want temps that are in the 20s F.

  17. Hurrah for full range of motion! It sounds like the surgeon did a very good job. Will your Mom have to do physical therapy again?
Mommy says that 21 days of rain would drive her 'round the sanity bend. Hmph, according to us she's well on the road!

Big purrs for a full recovery. PURRRRRRRR!!

  19. Doods...I'm glad her operation went ok, other than the feeling gross after. I hope it worked and she elbow starts feeling better...she's gonna need it, I think.

Oh and from my experience...don't try to purr on her actual elbow or she'll get mighty upset. But if you get close and purr on her lap, the purrs vibrate up and get where they need to be. I figured that out when the Woman had a tumor yanked out through her nose. She was NOT happy when I tried to lay across her face for healing purrs...

  20. We are so glad to hear that your Mom did so well and is hope "recooping"! We are sure she will feel much better once her elbow heals. Daddy goes again on his shoulder on April 5th or 6th. He says he is ready for surgery -- he is tired of dealing with a bum shoulder.
Both of you are so good at those sweet purrs we know your Mom will be healed in no time.
