Thursday Garden Stroll

Hello friends! Welcome to our Thursday Garden stroll! We're proud members of the Society of Feline Gardeners. Today is the last day of September, and our garden is starting to get very sleepy.
Currently we have some GINORMOUS Cosmos. We can't believe how tall they have gotten. (no, that isn't Sunflowerzilla, that is the smaller Sunflower.)
The purple-y Cosmos are our favorites, but we also have some white ones.
The butterflies seem to really like the white Cosmos the best.
In the front yard we have this Pineapple Sage. (Sage is another name for the Saliva family of plants.) They call this a Pineapple Sage because the leaves smell just like pineapples! This is one of the hummingbirds favorite plants.
This beautiful Saliva is called a Forsythia Salvia. In the Midwest where our Mom is originally from, they have a plant called a Forsythia Bush that blooms in the Spring. We can't grow those here where we live in California, so our Mom found this Forsythia Saliva that mimics the blooms of the Forsythia Bush. It blooms in the Fall, as you can see. It makes Mom a little homesick for Indiana. (until it starts snowing there and it's 70 degrees here, then she isn't homesick anymore!)
Thanks for taking the garden stroll with us today friends! Don't forget to visit all the other Feline Gardeners who are writing about their gardens today.

We are sure having some issues with the new blogger publishing tool. Our fonts keep changing on us. The pictures are running over the sides of our blog. It's more difficult than the old blogger. We'll stop complaining soon, but it's bugging the heck out of us. So sorry if our post today looks sloppy.

And a special Happy Birthday shout out to our Mom's sister Christine! We love you! xoxo, Raymond

Hello friends! For your Tuesday Tonkinese viewing pleasure, my LOVELY tail! My tail is in it's upright and HAPPY position.
Must be dinnertime somewhere!

Happy Tuesday friends! I hope YOUR tails are all upright and happy today too! xoxo, Busby

PS-We've made a few changes to our blog. We changed the way your comments show up on our page (no more pop-up) and we no longer require the "word verification" when you comment. (hopefully we won't get spammed like crazy) Hope you like the changes.

Mancat Monday

Hello friends! We would like to share with you a day in the life of two MANCATS.

Bird TV after breakfast
Lounging at Noon. It's too hot today!
Watching Mom. (She was telling me I'm "not supposed" to be on the top of the fridge. All I could hear is "Raymond, blah blah blah, Raymond".)
Watching moths circle around our porch light.

Hope you are having a good Monday whatever you are doing.
xoxo, Raymond and Busby

Sad Sunday

Busby and I join the rest of our friends on the blogosphere in mourning the loss of our young friend Yuu-Chan.

Our Mom was reminded of Shakespeare's words:

"Good night, sweet prince! And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

A special thank-you to The Poupounette's #1, for sharing her beautiful family with us. We love you.

Caturday

Hello friends! Happy Saturday/Caturday! It's supposed to be extra warm here in Capitola-by-the-Sea for the next few days. This is usually our warm time of year, September and October. It's when the fog clears away from the coast and we get chilly nights and hot days.

The hot weather is not going to make me give up my sunny spot though! Hope you are all having a glorious weekend!

Frootbat Friday

Hello friends! It is I, THE MIGHTY FROOTBAT! Do I look like I have lost a frootbatty ear?  Don't worry, I still have my ear! It's just folded over while I lay here. I'm concentrating REALLY HARD on the squirrel that is eating all the bird seed out of our bird feeder.

Doesn't that silly squirrel know the difference between a bird feeder and a squirrel feeder? DUH!

Happy Friday friends! Have a terrific weekend.
xoxo, Raymond

Thursday Garden Stroll

Hello friends! Welcome to the Thursday garden stroll. This is the first full day of Autumn and the garden is starting to look a bit raggedy. However, there is still a LOT going on out there. Let's take a look!

See? The Hummer is just waiting for a sip of nectar! They sit in this Ti Tree all the time. We have a bunch of Hummingbirds right now. We think there are five or six. They are very territorial about their food sources. (Like RAYMOND is about freeze dried chicken!)
On the front porch, our beautiful Hibiscus is blooming! The Hummingbirds love this plant. We love watching the Hummingbirds, so it's a win-win situation.

The Verbena is still blooming, Mom just has to remember to pinch it back once in awhile.
The Cosmos are looking good.
The great SUNFLOWERZILLA! We have to remember to get some of the seeds to plant next year.
We actually have some white Cosmos that have gotten taller than Sunflowerzilla! Can you believe it? Mom has never seen Cosmos get this tall.

Thanks for strolling with us today! Mom said a few swear words when she was doing this post, she's not used to the new blogger publishing tool yet. It kept moving our photos around. (Jeez, relax Mom!) Don't forget to visit the other Feline Gardeners today! xoxo, Busby

Tabby Tuesday with a Special Guest

Hello friends! We're having a TABBY TUESDAY today! This lovely ladycat is Speck. You met her once before. She lives with the woofie named Pluma.

Our Mom can't resist pestering Speck while she is trying to nap in the sun.

Keep smiling Speck! Maybe our Mom will leave you alone and let you go back to sleep. She just can't resist a beautiful Tabby!

Have a wonderful Tuesday friends! xoxo, Raymond and Busby

Mancat Monday

Mancat rule # 77: A MANCAT goes WHERE he wants WHEN he wants to and doesn't take "No No No No No" for an answer.

Happy Mancat Monday friends! We finally started using the newest version of Blogger and we really like it. You can make your photos and your fonts nice and big, which is important if you want your 91 year old Grandmama to read your blog!

Photo Hunt: School

Hello friends! This week's theme is SCHOOL. Recently our humans were at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and they saw this school of TUNA!
Pretty cool school. Mmmm, and tasty too. (if you can catch them, they swim REALLY fast!)

Are you playing the Photo Hunt today? Leave us a Linky and let us know.
Have a wonderful weekend, xoxo Raymond and Busby

Frootbat Friday

Hello friends! Behold the MIGHTY FROOTBAT! I am using my SUPER powers for good (instead of evil) today. I am sitting on my Non-blog Mom's lap. I'm helping her de-stress because lately she has had a lot going on.
Our Non-blog Mom's Mom (our human grandmother) is moving up here to Santa Cruz county tomorrow! She is 91 years old and has lived in Southern California for the past 70 years. The time has come for Grandmother to live closer to us, so we are moving her into an apartment at an assisted living facility near by. It's a really nice place, they even have CATS and dogs living there! However, as you can imagine, this has been a very stressful process for everyone involved (except for Busby and I). Please be patient with us in the coming weeks, we may not be visiting regularly or we may even miss a blog post or two as we get Grandmother settled into her new home.

Have a fantastic frootbat Friday! xoxo, Raymond

Thursday Stroll (not in the garden)

Oh hello friends! Instead of doing a Thursday garden stroll today, we thought we would stroll you a bit around our town. We live in a small town with a population of about 10,000 humans. (about 20,000 during the Summer months) It's on the central coast of California and it's called Capitola-by-the-Sea. Many of you all ready know, we live in a small house. It's only 900 square feet, but we love it. As you can see, we have a big front porch that faces South, so we get a lot of sun. Our Moms had our house painted green and pink, they think those are nice "beach-y" colors! (this photo is about three years old)

Capitola is a popular surf spot. It's just three miles south of Santa Cruz, CA which is "Surf City, USA"! This is the surf break at Capitola Beach, about five blocks from our house.

It's a tourist town, so it's busy in the Summer. Now that Labor Day has come and gone, the tourists have gone back home and beach is ours again! Capitola actually faces south on The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, which is the largest marine sanctuary in the country.

Here is a view of the old Capitola Wharf with the Venetian Motel in the foreground. The Santa Cruz Mountains around Capitola used to be used for logging and the lumber would be shipped out of Capitola to build homes in San Francisco and other big cities.

Here's another view of the wharf from the cliffs above Capitola.

Here are some cool flowers that grow up on the cliffs. We don't know what they are called, but the hummingbirds love them!
We think we may have discovered the legendary TUNA TREE! This is in a garden a few blocks from our house. We wonder if we can get some seeds from these people?!
We hope you enjoyed this stroll around Capitola, CA. We love our little town. Have a terrific Thursday friends! xoxo, Busby and Raymond

One Word Wednesday (plus Wordy Wednesday)

SUN!

We've had quite a bit of fog lately so I was VERY happy to find the sunny spot had returned in time for my afternoon nap yesterday. Mom also returned from GOLFING yesterday afternoon. Her foursome didn't win the tournament (in fact they came in last place in their flight!), but Mom had fun and enjoyed two days of golfing with her friends. Hopefully today we can come visit everyone and get back to NORMAL around here!

Your Tuesday Tonkinese

What do you mean you have to go play golf again today?!

This is NOT acceptable. I am perfectly comfortable here on your lap.

Hello friends! Mom is golfing again today. Her foursome's score after day one put them in second to the last place. (D'OH!)
They are hoping to play better today. (she is having fun though!)

Mancat Monday Morning After

Hello friends! Well, opening Sunday of football season has come and gone and this is how I felt after MY San Francisco Forty Niners got their TOCKS KICKED by the Seattle Seahawks.

I think it's going to be a LONG season.

Hope the rest of you are having a good Monday!
Mom is playing in a golf tournament today and tomorrow. She's got to leave the house early both days. We hope to come around and visit late in the day on today and tomorrow.
xoxo, Busby

Easy Like Sunday Morning

Hello friends! NFL Football season begins today (well, it began on Thursday, but today it REALLY begins). It's going to be noisy here at our house every Sunday until they play that STUPOR bowl game in January or February or whenever it is. We don't care much for football season because Mom's lap isn't very comfortable when she is watching football. Too twitchy!
*sigh* Oh well. I guess I can nap here on the floor until half time at least.
Go Bears! Go Niners! Have a good Sunday friends! xo, Busby
