Hope you are all having a smiley-faced Tuesday too!

Frootbat Friday

Happy Friday friends! I have had a great week. Ever since the Vet told my Moms I need to eat more, life has been GRAND!

As you can see from the photo, I am getting a lot of good attention too. And all I had to do is pee on the bed a few times! Life is good!

Happy weekend friends!

Thursday Stroll

Hi Friends! Our Moms have been real DRIPS lately when it comes to Garden Stroll Thursday. They are working late every night and don't get home until it's nearly dark and then they are too tired to take pictures and they sure do WHINE a lot too! Jeez!

We do have TWO photos to show you today. So let's take a mini stroll!

Mom, you need to start taking vitamins or something.

Last weekend our Moms took a walk down on the wharf in Santa Cruz. Just beyond that tip of land is a very well known surfing spot called Steemer Lane. The waves get very big there.

This photo is of the sunset from our front porch. Mom took it just as she got home from work. Pretty, huh?

Happy Thursday friends! We hope to get some garden shots soon. Not much is happening in our garden yet, but it's nearly time to start some clean up and some planting!

A Little Bit Wordy Wednesday

We just realized this is our 752nd blog post! (somehow we missed 750, which was this past Friday) Thanks for sticking around and following Raymond and me. We love you all!

Your Tuesday Tonkinese

Hi friends! Just so you know, THIS is how I looked while Raymond was having acupuncture on Friday. I was a bit scared! The Vet put needles all over him. He looked like a skinny porcupine!

By the way, Raymond's inappropriate peeing has not benefitted me at all. While RAY is getting extra food, I am not. I am a nice 12.4 lbs and the vet says while I am not overweight, I certainly don't need to put on any more weight. Boo.

Happy Tuesday friends! xoxo, Busby

Mancat Monday

Hello friends! What are those things sticking out of my head? NEEDLES! I had some acupuncture on Friday! Yep, our Vet came to the house driving her ginormous vet office on wheels. She took blood and pee from my brother and me (hey, that rhymes!) and then she stuck needles all over me! Guess what? It calmed me down! (even though you wouldn't know it from looking at my FREAKED OUT eye balls in this photo.

Oh this is fun. I like being used as a pincushion.

Guess what else? My labs came back all good. Normal. My alkaline and my red blood cell count perfect. My weight is down nearly a pound, so I get to eat MORE food! My pee issues? Fine all weekend long. The vet and my Moms are thinking this may be a behavioral thing. The word "hyperthyroid" is still coming up, but my numbers were good.

So, my Moms have noticed I am much more social since I am getting more to eat. They are thinking of getting Busby and I a heated cat bed, since they think I am cold at night.

You know what? This peeing on the bed has been very rewarding for me. I suggest you ALL pee somewhere inappropriate and see if you get more food and heated beds too.

xoxo, Raymond

Frootbat Friday

Hello friends! Well, my Moms thought I was feeling and doing better, but they were wrong. I peed on the couch Wednesday night and then I peed on the bed (TWICE!) today while they were at work. Luckily everything had plastic covers on it, but still, I made a mess. I honestly don't know why I am doing this. I like our three litter boxes. They are clean and in a quiet place. Is it bad behavior? Is it physical? Hopefully our vet will have some insight tomorrow. She is coming over to take blood and pee from Busby and I.

So please purr for me and if you have any advice my Moms would appreciate it. They are pretty frustrated with the situation.

Thursday Dibs and Dabs

Hello friends! Well, let's see...I am feeling better, and have my old pep back for the most part. I have not been peeing anywhere except the cat box so that's good. The VET is coming to our house tomorrow (our non-blog Mom has the day off work) and she will test my blood and Busby's blood and also take some of our pee to see how we are doing alkaline-wise.

The Royal Canin SO canned food tastes okay but it does NOT fill me up very much. When I am not sleeping I spend a lot of time in the kitchen hoping food will fall into my mouth.

Happy Thursday, xoxo, Raymond

Wordy Wednesday

What? I can't hear you Mom. I don't know what a W-2 form is. What? Butt prints on your paperwork? IRS? Taxes? I never heard of any of those things.

Hee hee. I love messing with the humans at tax time. Yes, of course I know I'm sitting on my Moms' tax papers. They have them all together to take to the tax lady on Saturday. Maybe if they didn't put them in this awesome sunny spot I wouldn't sit on them.

And then again, maybe I would!

Friends, don't forget that the Mango Minster is now underway! For some reason, I am competing in the BAD SPORT category. Voting in my category maybe taking place any day now and you only have 40 hours in which to vote. There are many other categories, so go check out all the contestants and vote!

Mancat Monday

I like to hang out on the back of the couch so I can put the bitey on Mom's head.

Happy Monday! XO, Raymond

Frootbat Friday

Sometimes I like to wedge myself between the arm of the couch and the arm of my Mom. It's a nice cozy spot. Frootbats love a nice cozy spot!

Happy Friday friends! My moms say they are fried. I thought it smelled like chicken around here.

XO, Raymond

Thursday Dibs & Dabs

Mom had a long day at work and then the commute home was very slow. We have a lot of traffic here due to some big golf tournament down in Pebble Beach this weekend. Extra cars on the road. So she didn't get our Thursday stroll post done. Duh. I think I will just lay here on the couch & stare at the back of Mom's head.

Happy Thursday Friends!

XO, Busby

Your Tuesday Tonkinese

Hello friends! I found a sunny spot on Monday, which is a good thing because today the sun is gone and it's raining. We really need the rain here in California, so we're happy that it's raining today!

Raymond seems to be doing well. We are both going to have blood and pee tests on Feb 17th. Ray's alkaline level is normal and he is no longer peeing anywhere except for our litter boxes. Yay!

This coming Sunday, Feb 12th, is the start of the Mango Minster competition. I am entered in the "Bad Sport" category, thanks to an incident that somehow was recorded on tape! I think Raymond is a tattle tail.

Happy Tuesday friends! xoxo, Busby

Our Mr Chewy Review!

Hello friends! Happy Monday! Like several of our friends, we were contacted by the folks at Mr Chewy and asked if we would write a review of their website. They gave us a $50 gift code in exchange for our review.

We were skeptical at first...

We were a bit hesitant at first because we like to shop local. We tend to get our goods at small independent pet stores, grocery stores, etc. However, since Raymond recently had to go on a prescription diet, and our Vet charges 43.00 a case for Royal Canin SO, we jumped at the chance to give Mr Chewy a try.

We purchased a case of the small cans of Royal Canin SO, a bag of Dr Elsey's "Cat Attract" cat litter, and a small package of real lamb liver cat treats called Ziwi Peak. Purchases over 49.00 ship for free, which we like.

The website is very easy to use, and they have a lot of products that most of us cats like and are familiar with. Since Raymond's food is prescription, we had to put Mr Chewy in touch with our vet. This was handled very smoothly and professionally by Mr Chewy's customer service folks.

We had our items shipped to our Blog Mom's office and it arrived quickly and in good condition.

We would recommend Mr Chewy to any cats who are looking for an online place to purchase food, litter and treats, especially if they like to have things delivered to them.

Thank you to Mr Chewy for sending us the generous gift code and letting us try your website.

Frootbat Friday

Hello friends! It is I, the mighty FROOTBAT! I am feeling much better! My Moms took a look at my labs and think that the fact is, my kidney stuff and my thyroid stuff is VERY borderline. Not terrible. My alkaline level is normal now, thanks to the special food. (that I LOVE, by the way.) Both Busby and I will be re-checked on Feb 17th.

My anemia, which was very minor, seems to be improving. Mom has been giving both Busby and me raw beef liver a couple nights a week as a snack. YUM!

I have not peed on the bed in a few days! I am using the box!

I am supposed to start on some thyroid medication this weekend. It's chicken flavored.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who has been purring and sending me links to read. My Moms did the hyperthyroid, kidney disease, high blood pressure & anemia dance with the two cats who came before us, Toot and Alex. The difference is, Toot was 18 years old when she developed CRF. And Alex was nearly 20. I'm YOUNG!

Happy weekend everyone! xoxo, Raymond

Thursday Stroll with Special Guest!

Hello! My name is Rex and my Mom works with Raymond and Busby's Mom at Renee's Garden Seeds ! Renee's sells some of the best Heirloom & Gourmet Vegetable, Flower and Herb seeds that you can buy. I'm actually protecting a whole flock of seed packets in this photo!

Protecting the seeds is a very important job!

As you can see from this Crocus, SPRING is coming! That means it's time to buy seeds!

YOU can help the wonderful shelter where our friend Jonesie's Mom volunteers by using the code FR227A when you purchase seeds on Renee's website! 25% of the cost of each order will be added up and at the end of the year United Paws will get a nice donation check from Renee's Garden. Cool, huh?

So what are you waiting for? Orders some seeds! Help a great charity and grow a gorgeous garden this season!

Woofs! Rex-Dog!

Wordy Wednesday

Hi friends! This is the blog-Mom typing. What is going on with Raymond? Our Vet called last night. She ran several tests on his blood and consulted with another Vet. It seems that Ray maybe showing signs of kidney disease. He may also be hyperthyroid. We are going to start treating the hyperthyroid to see if that improves his kidney numbers. Ray is only seven years old, so the Vet is a bit alarmed that he is showing signs of kidney disease this young.

More than one Vet (our own and the Vet at the ER) say that Ray has very small kidneys. His kidneys don't seem to be functioning the way that they should. He will start on a hyperthyroid drug tomorrow and then on Feb 17 he will have some follow up blood work. He has lost a bit of weight, but we aren't sure if that is due to his diet change (Royal Canin canned SO) or what.

There has been talk of an ultrasound, but currently that is on hold until the next round of blood work.

Meanwhile, his energy level has been less than normal (he is usually VERY energetic) and he continues to pee inappropriately unless we are home to re-direct him. We have resigned ourselves to plastic covered furniture for the time being.

Thanks for all the purrs and words of support. He is our Raymond, and we will continue to try to find a way to make him feel better again.
